Becoming the weight loss center in Orlando is our goal
Why be the weight loss center in Orlando? Weight loss is not about getting skinny, it’s about achieving a healthy weight. And that’s what we’re all about, health.
According to the Florida Health Department, healthy eating and physical activity are keys to maintaining a healthy weight. It’s called a healthy weight because it reduces and helps prevent health conditions such as heart diseases, diabetes or certain cancers.
But, what is a healthy weight?
Healthy weight and body mass index
A healthy weight is the result of an overall average of calories consumed and calories burned. To lose weight you need to burn more than you consume. So, to know if you have a healthy weight and need to consume or burn more, we first have to look at your body mass index (BMI). The body mass index is an estimate of how much fat your body has based on height and weight. It is not entirely accurate and everybody is different but it’s a good start. The BMI marks a range that will help establish where you’re standing.
How to calculate BMI
The CDC has an online BMI calculator that you can use here. But if you want to understand a bit more, here are some explanations. It’s not the same to calculate BMI for adults, children or teens. For children and teens we recommend you go here. As for the actual percentage of fat in your body, that changes between men and women.
As for adults, the formula to calculate the BMI for pounds is dividing the pounds by the inches squared and multiplying by 703.
What BMI is good?
For people under 20 years old BMI any results between 18.5 and 24.9 are good. Below that it is considered under weight and any number over that is overweight. Actually, if your result is over 30, you are considered to be obese.
Whether you are on the low or high spectrum, we can help you achieve a healthy weight. If you are in a normal BMI range that doesn’t mean you are healthy, we can still help you get healthier with diets and nutrition that helps boost your immune system, reduce allergies, etc. Check out our article on how to boost your immune system with food.

Things like moral believes or religion can also affect nutritional habits. Allergies and cultural habits also come into place. While Europeans will include bread and potatoes as part of their diet because it’s in the culture and they will remove rice. Other cultures will include rice as part of their diet and even bananas.
